Henri Pigache
A human-scale immersion into the every-night difficulties of a Salvation Army in the French city of Nantes. Founder of the PYGARGUE production company back to 1998, Henri Pigache started his career with nature films, with a focus on endangered animals. He has filmed on 3 continents (Europe, Africa, Asia) and directed a dozen documentaries that bring so much to each other. He then turned to photography, be it contemplative or with a social purpose. The watchful eyes are a mix of those two mediums that have so much to bring to each other: Photography (which Susan Sonntag said was "a secret added to a secret," and interviews with the Salvation Army's helping hands. It brings us close to the core of human bonds, even through despair or even disappearance of dignity for some who need help. Help from the Salvation Army and help from a watchful camera. |
